What are TMS treatment contraindications?

There are no medication contraindications for TMS treatment. Contraindications are primarily to prevent magnetic interference with metal and mitigate a very rare seizure risk

Contraindications prior to starting treatment

  • Ferrous metals above the neck (anything MRI safe is fine)
  • History of epilepsy
  • Active substance misuse disorder
  • There are no medication contraindications, although we request that patients do not change their medication two weeks prior or during TMS treatment

All patients are screened by our head office team and a psychiatrist for any risk factors prior to commencing treatment and will not start unless it is safe to do so
