When does the AUNZ Psychiatrist College recommend TMS treatment?

The RANZCP states that “rTMS is a therapeutic, well tolerated, and safe medical procedure for the treatment of psychiatric disorders, especially episodes of major depression...recommended after trialling at least 2 antidepressants”

The RANZCP position statement states that TMS treatment is “rTMS is a therapeutic, well tolerated, and safe, medical procedure for the treatment of psychiatric disorders, especially episodes of major depression.”

It is recommended after patients have not had a satisfactory response to at least two prior antidepressant trials or cannot tolerate medication.
